Sensors are not smooth, impenetrable pieces of equipment; all sensors have seams and ridges on the head of the sensor housing, within which bacteria can penetrate and propagate. While disinfectant wipes may be used to eliminate bacteria and residue in preparation for a new patient’s procedures, the hermetically-sealed casing for the new Tuxedo sensor allows for disinfection by submersion, thereby allowing disinfectant liquid to make its way into every nook and cranny of the device’s surface. Please contact our team for a list of approved disinfectants and keep in mind that the USB connection should not be submersed in liquid, only the head of the sensor that is placed in the patient’s mouth. We also recommend always applying a hygienic sheath to the sensor prior to any examination for additional protection from cross-contamination.
